The Course And Holes

Vila Sol is made up of 3 different 9 hole courses, Prestige , Challenge and Prime

The Prime course, composed of holes nos. 1 to 9, is Vila Sol Golf’s toughest course. The length and narrow width of the fairways on its first four holes, as well as it being famed for the Algarve’s “most difficult start”, make this course an appealing challenge.

The sixth hole is the signature hole of Vila Sol Golf. A long par 5 with various lakes, requiring three drives in order to have any chance of making par. This course’s par 3 holes are long and a challenge.

Suggestion: Do not miss the fairways, even if this means having to use an iron instead of a driver.

Short par 4: a long tee shot is not necessary. It is essential that the ball stay on the fairway in order to provide an easy approach shot Keep it to the left of the fairway

 

The Challenge

The second 9 holes are called Challenge.The Challenge course consists of holes nos. 10 to 18, where the difficulties lie in its greens being naturally more undulated than those of the Prime and Prestige courses, which means that greater accuracy is required of players in their green approach shots.

The first five holes are accessible and offer players the chance to set up a good score before getting to the final four holes, which comprise a difficult par 3 (hole 15), and three very challenging par 4 holes.

Hole no. 18, next to the Clubhouse, finishes off with an approach shot where the players have the chance to excel in front of the audience watching from the terrace. The ball has to land on the fairway in these final holes in order to avoid high scores, even if this means playing an iron from the tee.

The very back of the white tees giving you a great view down to the Green ,narrow fairway, the longer the shot, the narrower the fairway becomes. Large bunker on the left-hand side of the fairway and a small green for the approach shot

Dog-leg to the left one; the long-range players can cut the corner and the short-range players will have to keep to the right from there you will have a clearer vision of the green. This green has an inclination to the left to the right.

 

The Prestige

The third course is called The Prestige course holes 19 to 27 and this completes the set of the courses at Vila Sol Golf. This course is shorter but, to offset this fact, it is narrower. Accuracy and not distance is the decisive factor on this course.

The first four holes are “friendly”, and they do not prepare the player for the difficulties that lie ahead on reaching tee 23 and being faced with quite a narrow fairway. The course becomes difficult from this tee shot onwards. The ball has to land in the right places so as not to run the risk of ending up behind the trees, out of bounds or in the water hazard beside hole 26,

Long par 5 which is certainly a three shot hole. Use a driver if you are sure it is going to hit the right-hand side.
